ACTS OF SERVICE
Some kids feel loved when someone makes their life easier — helping with homework, fixing a toy, making their favorite meal. Acts of service says, “I care about you, so I’m going to help.”
Acts of service are loving actions we do for someone else. It’s love you can see — not just hear.
Kid-friendly version:
I love you, so I helped you.
Helping = caring in action.
This love language teaches kids:
We take care of each other
Asking for help is okay
Love is not only words, it’s doing
Serving is a way to show kindness
It’s also a great way for parents to model teamwork at home.
Ways parents can show it:
Help with homework or a hard project
Tie shoes / do their hair / help pick an outfit
Make their favorite meal
Clean their room with them, not just tell them
Fix a broken toy
Set up their art/table/reading spot
Ways kids can show it:
Bring mom water
Feed the pet
Help a sibling
Pick up toys without being asked
Help carry groceries
DO IT AT HOME:
Family help list: make a list of things we can do for each other.
Service surprise: choose one person in the family to surprise with help.
Kitchen helper: let your child help cook, wash, or set the table.
Room reset together: make cleaning a team effort.
